Community research

For the past 2 years we have been collecting a number of test results from a sizable number of PSSD community members, including the following categories:

  • GPCR autoantibody tests (Celltrend)
  • SFN skin biopsies and QST's
  • Brain and spine MRI's
  • FDG-PET-Scans
  • Lumbar punctures (spinal tap)
  • Cytokine panels
  • The Cunningham panel (now known as the Autoimmune Brain Panel)
  • GI map panels.

This data has been compiled into a document where it is presented and interpreted alongside an analysis of the nervous system, discussions around related neuroimmune conditions that share overlapping symptoms and potential mechanisms with PSSD, as well as showcasing multiple neurological case reports, various treatment anecdotes, and discussing ideas around potential mechanisms (etiology) and hypotheses.

These “preliminary findings” and research suggests that PSSD may involve immune-mediated mechanisms that contribute to the condition's pathology in a multisystemic fashion, including downstream mechanisms such as neuroinflammation, dysautonomia, small fiber neuropathy (SFN) and gut microbiome dysbiosis.

RESEARCH DOCUMENT

This document provides a comprehensive exploration of the potential mechanisms, clinical findings, and hypotheses underlying PSSD, integrating community-reported data, layman research and established research.
